The Johnathan Thurston Academy is one step closer to achieving its goal to empower thousands of young women in some of the country’s most remote communities, with nbn becoming a major supporter of their innovative JTLeadLikeAGirl program.

The forward-thinking program hosts weekly online and in-person workshops designed to connect and assist young women to lead lives with confidence, courage, and self-belief, and includes mentoring programs with impressive role models.

With nbn now a JT Academy Partner, plus Major Supporter of JTLeadLikeAGirl, the program will be able to connect and engage with more young women in communities not only across the state but around the country.

Over the past few years, the academy has worked closely with nbn to get their valuable programs into remote Queensland communities.
Johnathan Thurston, the Managing Director of the JT Academy, said he was excited to announce the strengthened partnership.

Thurston said thanks to nbn’s support, they can expand the reach of the JTLeadLikeAGirl program, which will go a long way towards closing the gap for young women living in remote communities.

“This was demonstrated late last year when nbn installed a nbn™ Sky Muster™ satellite service on the local PCYC at Doomadgee during our visit,” Thurston said.

“Thanks to this connectivity, we were able to unite the incredible young women from the Doomadgee community with the other participants of our JTLeadLikeAGirl program.

“They are still connecting weekly and speaking with other amazing young women every week from across Queensland, and I couldn’t be prouder.

“It is our dream and our vision to connect young women and build a powerful platform, a place, and an environment where they can cultivate meaningful connections, feel seen, heard, and valued, and derive strength from one another.

“Through JTLeadLikeAGirl, we aim to empower Australia’s young women with confidence, courage, and self-belief to reach their full potential.

“We are really proud of what we have achieved to date, and excited about the future thanks to nbn’s support.”

Thurston said he can’t wait for more young women to join and be inspired through the JTLeadLikeAGirl program.

“The major partnership with nbn will help us to reach more young women in remote communities, especially those who may not be able to access online services otherwise,” he said.

“We are hoping to reach more than 400 students this year. Please join us on this journey, and together let’s continue to celebrate our nation’s youth and inspire, encourage, and support them to be the very best versions of themselves!”
