JTLeadLikeAGirl is a standout program for young women, focused on developing leadership, teamwork, and other key skills that promote success throughout one’s life and career. We engage directly with young women through interactive and inspirational workshops exploring personal development and achievement.

Outcomes and Learning Intentions

• Encourage attendance and positive school engagement or return to school
• Increased confidence, courage and self-belief
• Increased understanding of and ability to set boundaries and maintain positive social networks.
• Young women demonstrate resilience by overcoming personal or systemic barriers to achieve their goals, such as navigating discrimination or financial difficulties.
• Connection to other communities and supports
• Participants build strong peer relationships within the program, creating a network of support that extends beyond the program’s duration.

Our program is inspired by Johnathan's life story and the steps he took to turn his life
round. JT's ability to connect with young people and his emphasis on the role of confidence, courage and self-belief in his success is hugely motivational. It's a story
that resonates with many of our participants, inspiring them to strive for heir personal best.

Overview of 10 session program:

1. Introduction to the Johnathan Thurston Academy
2. Building the Team- Effective verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening and conflict resolution skills
3. Self-Belief – Positive self-talk and self-acceptance, positive body image and challenging societal standards of beauty
4. Courage- advocating for change and creating a positive impact
5. Confidence- Recognising strengths and building confidence
6. Building Resilience- using my voice
7. Understanding and managing emotions and developing empathy
8. Role Models through story telling- exposure to different career paths, guidance on pursuing interests and talents.
9. How to navigate bullying and online bullying; building and maintaining healthy relationships
10. Graduation Session- Meeting Johnathan Thurston- present short- and long-term goals and what has been learnt from the program
