Wadja Wadja High School – currently participating in an online JTBelieve program

Wadja Wadja High School is an Independent non-denominational community school and is located at Woorabinda, Queensland an Aboriginal community approximately 165 km west of Rockhampton in Central Queensland. It is the only school in the community which offers post primary education. Wadja Wadja High School is governed by the board of the Wadja Wadja Aboriginal Corporation for Education.

Wadja Wadja High School positions their students to launch into their future with confidence, skills and knowledge and be able to impact positively on the wider community. The structures they provide their students provides the opportunity for students to engage in an ever-changing world, whilst firmly acknowledging their connections to their rich past.

Aurukun State School – currently participating in an online JTBelieve program

Aurukun State School opened in 1974 and remains the only school in Aurukun. They cater for almost 200 Pre-Prep to secondary students. The school is also known locally as Koolkan Aurukun Community School. In November 2022 the school established a local Governance Board comprising of all local First Nation representatives. The Governance model was initiated through the Department of Education’s Local Community Engagement Through Co-Design Pilot Program.
