About Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre

HBNC was founded in 1989 as a community-based initiative to provide help, friendship, and support to the most disenfranchised people in the community. The emphasis of all of our activities is on people and the relief of issues and concerns that impede them from living a successful and happy life.

We develop and deliver programs and services in response to community needs. Presently, HBNC manages 30 funded programs that encompass aspects of aged care, family services, diversity, and social isolation.

Our mission

To provide a place for people to belong, feel safe and be connected to a community of support. Our programs focus on all community members at any stage of life, including those who are vulnerable or isolated.

Our vision

A strong and connected community.

Our beliefs

  • We believe in a strong community.
  • We believe that everyone matters.
  • We believe there are vulnerable people in our community who need a hand and that many hands can play a part in the solution.

Our values

  • Integrity
  • Social Justice
  • Compassion
  • Collaboration
  • Openness

Partnership Impact With JTA

HBNC partnered with the JT Academy in 2024 to fund JTYouGotThis early intervention programs into the region's schools and the wider community during school holidays.
